Trying to be productive...and failing...(upcoming films, and Karekano ends...)

The Hellsing announcement was apparently made at the MipTV tradeshow in France...what is that?
edit: I'm so lazy...it's a huge 'media' tradeshow at Cannes (I think, from googling...)..

Having not been to the cinema for about 9 months, I'm wondering if I should let one of the films being released in the next few weeks tempt me... there's Kingdom of Heaven (another Ridley Scott!! but somehow, I don't know if it'll be as good as Alien...Gladiator was somewhat kitsch in some parts...), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (I'm wondering if I should read the book first...Johnny Malkovich is in it, as is Alan Rickman (though only the voice...I can't wait to see him back as Snape at the end of the year! Just wish it were book 5 instead of 4...), and Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith being the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Speaking of Star Wars though, the theme song is to be released at the same time as the film. (Source: ABC News online.) Was that the case with any of the previous episodes?

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride looked interesting when I saw the trailer a few months back, and with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Christopher Lee voicing some of the characters...definitely worth a look. I should take a look at The Nightmare Before Christmas too...love black humour.

Memoirs of a Geisha is currently in post-production...whilst I like the book (which IS fiction btw, for anyone who didn't care to read the final page (or thereabouts) carefully...) because it was an interesting story, even if some side details are probably questionable. What worries me (besides the fact that Akiva Goldsman (infamous, at least to me, for 2001's A Beautiful Mind) adapted the novel for the screen) is that a lot of the major Japanese characters are being played by actresses from other Asian nations (China, Thailand even)...

Even more worrying...Goldsman is adapting/has adapted The Da Vinci Code for the screen...(though I'll have to rant about Dan Brown's books some other day, after I've read through this site, and further, in greater detail... (it really isn't easy to find an extensive non-Christian site on this issue though...)), and it's slated for released in 2006.

And just to get this off my chest...I'm so damned annoyed with myself - lost my pencil case for the second time in a month, and just after I bought several more pieces of stationery so that it had everything I needed!!

[/rant] Feeling a little bit better...

edit: Just read a summary spoiler for the ending of Karekano on a ML...must admit, with chapter 99 being as it was (and probably from before as well - I haven't exactly been following the series very closely), you could really see it coming. What I am surprised at is the number of people who are disappointed with it...
