I read about it at Random Curiousity, and thought the character design looked familiar.
True enough, Gundam 00 ("double-o")'s character design is by Kouga Yun (Gunota)...
This particular Gundam series is apparently a return to neither the U.C. nor the C.E. universe - i.e. none of the SEED characters will appear (although there is meant to be a SEED movie currently in production, with all the relevant characters returning).
p.s. I'm annoyed...can't use Firefox to get onto the Japanese website, and IE hasn't been working for me at all...

WE MUST WATCH ANIME WHEN U COME OVER!! (You do know you'll be at my house for at least a night or two yeah?!?) I am working next week 8.45-4.45 in the city (and one day either next week or the week after, i have to go see (make) an account to assist me with my tax return etc. But, if you need a pick up from the airport and its not during these times - just msg me ne! :D
Much as I would love to just laze around and watch anime...I don't know if I have the time...(thank you for the invite tho...I hope you don't mind if I'm more inclined to study Japanese than watch anything when I'm over at your place ^^).

After looking at the pictures again....they quality of the designs is nice...but they arn't "pretty" as such are they. They are more realistic than the Loveless ones...and kind of remind me of witch hunter robin designs. Are they different company? *looks to the queen of anime production info* :D
I'm going to look at this from the p.o.v. of an art student as opposed to an anime otaku type. Firstly though, ANN usually gives a pretty good run-down on the production team - (Gundam00 and Loveless) Whilst the character design is obviously by the same person, the anime renditions are done by different people, which probably affects what impression they give. (Btw, the person who did Loveless was also responsible for the Ai Yori Aoshi series, which I remember as being quite 'soft'. ) Art-wise, when I think 'realistic', I personally think of characters that are more in proportion, with appropriate eyes and hair, and Kouga Yun's designs don't strike me as fitting that description (tho yes, WHR is one of the series I regard as having more realistic chara design). The other thing I notice about these 4, when compared to anime Soubi and Ritsuka, is that the shadows are darker in the former, giving me the impression of a 'harder' series, one that isn't "pretty", if you wish. And well, to me, Gundam isn't meant to be particularly pretty.
